The surgery itself is not painful. Our surgeons numb the area, and you are sedated for the procedure. In the first three or four days after surgery, you experience some swelling and discomfort, which can be alleviated with ice packs and pain medication. Most patients are surprised by how little pain they experience. Because you do not have to have bone grafts, the pain is significantly reduced.
How long does it take to heal from All-On-4 surgery?
Most patients rest at home for two or three days, then return to work. Some pain and swelling may linger for up to a week, but this is minimal. However, it takes four to six months for the jawbone to integrate with the titanium implants.
How do I care for my All-On-4 Implants?
Implants can be cared for like you care for your natural teeth. See your dentist twice a year for a professional cleaning to ensure your arch is still in good shape and properly attached to the implants. Flossing daily and brushing twice a day is crucial. A water flosser or oral irrigation device may also be helpful.
