Facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation are conditions which can be improved by chemical peels administered by Cosmetic Surgeon Michael Warner. While chemical peels are most often to enhance skin quality and regain a smoother, more youthful complexion, they are also used to remove pre-cancerous skin and to diminish acne scars in the facial region.
Chemical peels are performed by Dr. Warner at his practice’s Arlington, Fort Worth and Weatherford locations. Dr. Warner has provided chemical peels for his patients for more than 10 years. Your chemical peel will be performed personally by Dr. Warner in the comfort of our on-site surgical suite. A physician-administered chemical peel can reach a specific depth of skin layer, thereby rejuvenating your face and giving you the optimal result. Many of Dr. Warner’s patients elect for facial chemical peels as a part of a non-invasive liquid face lift.
Dr. Warner can perform your chemical peel in just two appointments. At your first appointment, he will discuss your wrinkles, the goal you want to achieve, answer your questions, and discuss pre-operative instructions. Dr. Warner will perform your chemical peel on your second visit.
Dr. Mike Warner is known for his expertise administering the Obagi Blue Peel which uses Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) as the active ingredient. However, Obagi is different than traditional TCA peels. Because TCA is a clear aqueous solution, over painting and uneven penetration can easily occur leading to unsatisfactory results. The Blue Peel is a unique procedure enhancing control of the depth of TCA. The blue mixing base helps to ensure consistent results.
The precise formulation used may be adjusted to meet each patient’s need. The Obagi is popular for medium-depth peeling to remove the damaged outer layer of facial skin. And because Obagi peels are not as aggressive as the strongest of the chemical peel solutions (such as phenol), it is possible to have follow-up peels until desired results are achieved.
Peels by Dr. Warner are performed in the office, take less than an hour, and do not require sedation. The Blue Peel formulation will be applied to your face and neck. A mild burning sensation will occur that generally lasts only a few minutes. You may experience a bluish tint to your skin that usually washes off in 12 to 24 hours. Two or more peels may be needed to obtain the desired result, and those may be spaced out over several months. Depending on the strength and depth following the procedure, you will experience light swelling. Within two to three days, your skin will begin to peel. This peeling continues over the next several days. By the seventh to tenth day, your skin should be healed.
Once your skin has completely recovered and is finished peeling, you will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. Your skin’s appearance should continue to improve for the next four to six weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.
